Saving What Remains
|
A sample multiple-use reserve. The black boundary marks the boundaries of the reserve, while the colored triangles represent areas set aside for various uses. The reddish triangle is a realm for Indigenous use, while the blue square is an area for ecotourism, and the yellow triangle is a strict biological area. The rest of the area within the reserve can be used for low impact, sustainable activities. The outer areas, already impacted by human activities, can be used for logging, mineral extraction, reforestation projects, and agriculture. |
