The Smallest Marsupial
The Smallest Marsupial: Long-tailed Planigale (Planigale ingrami)
The long-tailed planigale is the smallest species of marsupial in existence. The planigale looks like a very tiny mouse with a flattened head and a long, bare tail. Despite their small size, they are fearless hunters, preying on animals close to their own size. The majority of their diet consists of insects, larvae, small lizards, and small mammals. Due to its abundance within its range, it is listed under Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.
